Los Planetas is a Spanish pop/shake band from the Southern city of Granada, framed in the mid 1990s and dynamic through the 2000s, and drove by J ('jota': guitar, vocals) and Florent (guitar, moog and synthesizers). Current line-up incorporates drummer Erik (once in the past of Lagartija Nick), guitar and console player Banin (in the past in Ciao Firenze) and bassist Julian Mendez (in the past in Lori Meyers and of Checopolaco) . With a solid enthusiasm on hallucinogenic pop, outside the box shake and sleep inducing sounds by english-talking groups like early Mercury Rev or Joy Division, Los Planetas are a standout amongst the most acclaimed and strong groups in Spanish non mainstream pop.
